Nucleation of Water Vapour Condensation

In Cloud Microphysics, Process that creates small droplets of water in the atmosphere through condensation of water vapour. This process creates the plumes of water droplets that we can see in most common clouds.

A relatively warm air parcel ascends and will, through the lower pressure at higher altitudes, result in the expansion of the air thus adiabatic cooling is performed. Since the amount of humidity that air can hold decreases with temperature, the air will eventually become supersaturated and the condensation process can start. Here tiny droplets are formed created.

To create larger droplets, Cloud Condensation Nuclei - small airborne particles that allow for condensation - is needed.
